This is massive wildlife conservation area covering over one million acres!
It hosts over 50% of Kenya’s entire wildlife population.

It is approximately 200 km from Nairobi, and the drive takes about 4 to 5 hours through the lush green highlands on the slopes of Mt Kenya.

Laikipia Conservancy comprises of both private and community owned reserves, many of which are home to several unique and endangered species. It’s one of the few places in Kenya with large packs of the African Wild Dogs.

There are also elephants, rhinos, lions, leopard , cheetah, zebras including the rare Grevy’s zebra among others.

Of special interest is the world famous “ Black Panther” or the Black Leopard named Giza. This female melanistic leopard has since become one of the world’s most sought after species.

It’s a wish and a dream for many travelers especially wildlife photographers. Luckily , Giza got a well established territory, which has enabled many travelers to find and spend time with her.
However, there is a very strict and regulated control in these areas to protect Giza from disturbances.

To increase chances of seeing Giza, we recommend at least a minimum of three nights, as she is very mobile.

With help and guidelines from local resident guides, there are always high chances of encountering and observing Giza. While the search for Giza can be long and adventurous lots of other unique sightings will make the entire adventure unforgettable .

Best Time To Visit.

For general wildlife viewing and greater chances of finding Giza, June to October is best, and again January and February.
